Fancy Pants: Duchess of Cambridge "India Tour " Style
Wow. Overall, I loved what Kate and her stylists chose for her India tour. I think she was trying to honor the Indian aesthetic while walking the fine line of Royal expectations.
I've taken a few of her inspiring looks from the Cambridge's tour and found some toned down alternatives for you and me, that still capture the exotic feel that she was going for with her wardrobe on this trip! (Because, you don't HAVE to be a Princess or be headed to India to jump on this style bandwagon)!
Spearmint Lace
Blue Medallion Sheath
1. Naeem Khan Bespoke for the Princess
Chiffon Poppies
1. Beulah Poppy Dress Bespoke for the Princess
My favorite dress of hers is this casual T-length cotton dress that she wore for a cricket match.
It can be yours from the designer's website for $236
Ok, overall I loved her spin on more ethnic patterns and wearing LOTS of color.HOWEVER, if I was her stylist I wouldn't have been so THEMEY, and would have suggested a few of these more classic, more polished and sophisticated options instead of some of the other wardrobe choices they made.
(Or if I was a stylist, this is what I would have worn if I was along on this trip!)
Can someone in Anmer Hall give me a call and a credit card and I'll get to work on the Princess' wardrobe, k?
My "MORE POLISHED, PRINCESS" suggestions:
Bold Royal Blue floral and Medallion below the knee dress. Kate could have even worn her fav nude pumps.
I would have selected this black and white column dress number from Badgley Mischka:
I would have had her wear knock out amethyst and diamond earrings and bracelets,
and told the stylist to make a wrap/shawl made from this fabric or the skirt of this dress:
Yes, those are lavender Rhinos on this dress. (Rhino and Elephant Conservation were key elements of the purpose of this Royal tour). I'd have done it. Why not? A shawl made from this fabric would have been an incredible touch, worn with the black and white drop dead gorgous dress above.
I would have paired this silk stunner with Diamond Chandelier Earrings borrowed from Granny, delicate gold and diamond bracelets, and a Gold Sequined Pashmina Scarf wrapped in front with ends hanging down the back.
AND:
She should have pretty much hiked in PUNJAMMIES, an ethnic tunic (Kurti) and Merrells.
and I hope she went home with cute and comfy Jammies!
