Wordless Wednesday {Benjamin Moore "Dark Harbor"}

untitled (1 of 1)

Commona My Kitchen {Coconut Cupcakes}

I have loved this recipe, only making this cake once a year either around Christmas or Easter.  This year, I made cupcakes.  It is the perfect tropical treat for a snowy day.  My kids called the cupcakes SNOW CUPS.
I've modified Ina Garten's orginial recipe, follow hers or if you want a little more coconut flavor, just add 1/2 cup Coconut milk to your cake mix. Just change the amount of buttermilk that you add, instead of adding 1 cup, only add 1/2 cup of milk and your 1/2 cup of coconut milk.  And 1/2 cup coconut milk to your frosting and adjust your confectioner's sugar to get your desired consistency.  (I used Coco Lopez, but you could use any canned coconut milk that is available, usually it is either in the bar tending section or the Asian Food section..I seem to always have some canned coconut milk in my pantry because I use it in my curry).

Malachite Monday {vintage beads}

This vintage malachite necklace was the sweetest birthday gift from my parents. The gold clasp is so Deco! I guess when you blog about things you like all the time, it sort of acts like a big, old wish list. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Put a little Malachite in your Christmas with this wrapping paper that I mentioned in this MM Post from a few weeks ago!
My friend, Vanessa from Etre Nous and I both have a thing for Malachite!
So it was quite a lovely, double surprise to receive this gift from her decked out in my favorite shade of green.
Thank you, Vanessa!

Year of Change Bedroom Refresh {Source List}

Last month my YEAR OF CHANGE DESIGNER CHALLENGE headed to the bedroom... as promised, here is my list of sources for my bedroom updates!

I approached this month's challenge from the perspective that simply taking away, changing out, and adding a few different accessories can freshen up your you the change you want for a small amount of money.
For several years, I have had porcelain blue and white bedding, and although soft and pretty, it was sort of feeling tired and bland.  I wanted a predominantly white bed with pops of bohemian blues, golds, creams and grays. The key for me was to keep it textural and comfortable. I wanted sophisticated and chic but not fancy and formal.

I started with my own white sheets, (stitching on a gray Greek Key trim to the top sheet), added several pillows (purchasing the ones that I loved and then playing with them to see which would actually work together), moved a rug from another room and finished with my bedside table.
I would have LOVED to plank the walls, add bamboo blinds and a handful of other little details.
The word FRESH is in the word REFRESH...I wanted a refreshing, relaxing room.
Here is my CASUAL BOHO CHIC Bedroom Refresh.

 The fun part was playing with the pillows that I had selected.

Throwback Thursday {Deer Season}

This post is from last December's  Free Printable Roundup!
I've always loved deer.
And I'm sure you've noticed that I'm not alone...they are all the rage this Christmas Season!
I'm hoping that they won't be a fad...because I think it's a classic motif.
Today for Freebie Friday, I'm rounding up my favorite DEER freebies from all over the blogosphere
AND I thank those designers and bloggers for sharing them with all of us!
Print them out.
Use them as gift tags, cards or frame them for last minute gifts!
Or keep them for yourself, put them up and pull them out again next year!
 Pin away for later!

Best White Paints Who: Katie Ridder What: Paper White, OC-55, Benjamin Moore (shown in photo at left) Why: “I use it in kitchens and bathrooms because it melds the grays of Carrara marble and the stark white of sinks and toilets.”
