Life on Virginia Street

I have been wanting to update my builder's grade kitchen since we moved into our home. I had BIG PLANS...

I love the warm white, subway tile, gray cabinetry, unique brass pulls, greenery (in my case I'd use succulents, not just lettuce, heehee) and the warm wood touches throughout.

Favorite! Gold handles and hinges, farmhouse apron sink, grey cabinets, white tile backsplash

1. Paint the walls Sherwin Williams "Dover White".

2. Paint the cabinetry and island Sherwin Williams "Dovetail Gray".

3. Replace our clunky white kitchen counter stools with smaller scale, clean line, wood/metal ones.

4. Replace busy, outdated, green and beige backsplash with subway or hex tile in a warm, creamy tone that will blend with the "Dover White" walls, but downplay the granite.

6. Use Cream, Gray, Blue and Green soft and sophisticated fabrics throughout on windows and table cloths.

Well, and then, I could finally break out all of my Jadeite colored accents and love my kitchen.

BUT THEN....well, life happens.

We're moving to Portland for my husband's new promotion.

SO...with the kitchen paint already purchased...I went to Plan B, which is now all about sprucing up the house to sell.

I decided on painting the walls and add my decorative touches that I already had...

So, I spent $50 on paint and supplies and was overall, very pleased with the results. Even though it didn't get the FULL TREATMENT like I had originally hoped for, it still pulls together the desired feel that I was after...to banish the worn Olive Green walls and have a more cohesive open concept look which ties in better with the adjoining living area. I strategically pulled shades of green and blues out of my living room accents and used them in the kitchen for a clean, cream, gray, blue and green scheme. This will be a plus for home staging, which commences next week.
