A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Amy! I grew up the daughter of an antique Auctioneer in CT. I was surrounded in my childhood home and my father's workplace by beautiful things, well crafted things both in terms of durability and design. I loved the way the light would hit certain paintings around our house which was a 1901 Victorian. I think these things in a way, became a part of me and who I am. But I'm not materialistic...life has made sure of that ;) I left New England, went to college outside of Philadelphia (a city full of architecture, history and an amazing art scene, btw). My English Literature Major and Fine Art and Business Administration Double Minor led me to Public Relations and Marketing. I worked in PR and Marketing at one of Philadelphia's premier firms, The Tierney Group, working on campaigns with companies and organizations such as Dun & Bradstreet, Aramark, Jones Apparel Group, The Sidney Kimmel Foundation, WAWA, Exxon, The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Philadelphia Art Museum, among others. I left Philly for DC and worked for Boeing as a Presentation Business Analyst assigned to NASA HQ, interpreting and preparing presentations for the Office of Aeronautics and Space Transportaion. Everything changed when I married a USNA Grad in Annapolis, who was a Marine Helicopter Pilot. We've moved all over the world in the past 18 years. I've loved something about each region (and countries) where we have lived and traveled to (my favorites were our 4 years in San Diego, our year in Japan and a whirlwind stop and a tour for just our little family on Wake Island which is an Atol between Hawaii and Guam).
We are now in the "civilian" world, happily settled (for the time being) in the Rocky Mountain West. I've had to create a new "home" 15 times in 19 years of marriage. That's a lot of moves. That's a lot of figuring out where the couch is going to go. And that's a lot of projects. My passion for art and design has been ever present throughout our adventures, and my real life interiors experience as well as formal design training, have provided me with a love for helping friends and clients make their house into a home.
I have professional experience helping clients with a variety of decisions and projects.

XXXOOO,
Amy, thank you for this heart felt post!! It just completely spoke to my heart. I too do not follow what the "hot current trend" is for the moment. I try to makeover what i have here first, because as you can imagine, with 8 children, there's not a whole lot for mommy to just go and blow! You inspire me and I thank you!--♥Angie
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and so happy I did! I can't imagine moving that often ~ I moved twice in 2010 and it nearly killed me. :) Of course, I'm much more "mature" too so my body is just not what it used to be. Hard to admit ~ I feel so young mentally!
ReplyDeleteI do not subscribe to decorating trends...I think each person's uniqueness is much more appealing. I love color, things that are funky and make me happy and treasures of the heart.
So happy to "meet" you!
