House Guests: Brooke Shields NYC Home

So, if you were a globally recognized model/actress + wife/mother, and you pretty much could furnish a home any way you could possibly want, how would you? What would your style be?
Brooke Shields' NYC Brownstone was featured in Architectural Digest last year. It is a fascinating mix of traditional and modern elements. I think I'd call it "sleek traditional". What do you think?
Let's take a peek:

The Look:
Combination of antiques, traditional and modern...a balanced high - low mix of contemporary art and modern lighting with traditional foundation pieces. There are no traditional Oriental rugs, just bare wood floors and a natural fiber rug here and there, keeping things fresh and not too heavy.  Strong use of light solids on furniture and window treatments (when used at all) with a pop of color and pattern as an accent. Neutrals such as white, gray and brown make up the backbone of this style...letting the accent colors, antique furniture, quirky artwork and other accent details stand out.
Note: all lighting is modern.

How I'd get the look:

And I'm wondering about some of these celebrities who have homes all around the world... I think it would be interesting to see if they decorate their multiple homes in the same or different styles...for example, does Brooke decorate her California home in this same style as this NYC Brownstone, or does she do something totally beachy or mid-century. Weird to think about, I know but just a thought in case I ever have multiple bi-coastal residences to decorate. I know that my Manhattan Brownstone would be totally different from my Telluride cabin, for instance ;)
XXXOOO.

  2. I looooove your blog. Posts like these make me almost giddy! You and I share a love of good design. I have seen Brooke's other home featured on several different t.v. shows and magazines. She is so wealthy they could be homes she owned previously though. I would google it. She has a great sense of style just like YOU! ;)
